Welcome to the San Francisco Peoples' Organization
The San Francisco Peoples' Organization is a coalition of community based organizations, labor, advocacy groups, and individuals committed to building a progressive vision for San Francisco. We are creating a long-term strategic alliance of people of color, women, labor, working poor, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender persons, seniors, persons with disabilities, faith-based communities, youth, and any group or individual that will fight for economic and social justice. We believe that through grassroots, constituency-based, multi-issue organizing efforts we can transform San Francisco into a progressive city that places human needs and the common good first.

SFPO Points of Unity (Public Draft)
last modified 4-13-05
Below are listed political points of unity drafted over the past year by the SFPO working group. Each of these points has further explanation and elaboration in the full "Points of Unity" document, which you can download from the box on the right.
We are an organization of groups and individuals committed to bringing sanity, humanity and compassion to San Francisco politics. Our ranks include people from all walks of life. We each have different backgrounds, different experiences, and different opinions. But there are some basic things on which we all agree.
- We believe in the power of everyday people to shape our lives, our city, our world.
- We believe in unity among progressives.
- We believe that economic justice is essential to a healthy, safe and democratic San Francisco.
- We support workers' rights.
- We oppose all forms of oppression and exploitation. In particular, we promote and encourage the leadership of women, people of color and others from oppressed, exploited and marginalized communities.
- We want real democracy in San Francisco politics.
- We value democracy in our own organization.
- We oppose the ongoing hyper-investment of public resources into punishment and policing
- We support efforts to restore our fragile ecology and develop a "green" economy.
- We are politically independent.
- We believe in sustainable progressive politics. We are committed to keeping the public informed.
